Swiss Days

Oh Sweet Sadie! made it's first appearance at Swiss Days last weekend! It was fun to see so many of you before the show... and give you a sneak peak at what OSS will have to offer this weekend. As soon as I get pictures from Heidi I will post the pictures of the CUTEST lace rompers, lace shorts, lace camisoles, lace pantaloons, lace leg warmers, etc. Women were squealing with excitement. We'll also have head wraps, slap watches, hair ties, mama bird necklaces, and oh so much more! See you this weekend!

OSS Artisans & Vendors going BIG!

Our good friend & OSS Academy instructor, Megan Faulkner Brown (aka. The Sweet Tooth Fairy), has enjoyed phenomenal success this year, including selling her delicious cake bites on QVC. She needs our help! QVC has an annual "Customer Choice Foods Awards" and her cake bites are nominated for best newcomer to their food category! We want her to win! This will take a second of your time, click on this link and scroll to question #8 and vote. That's it... now watch for our Academy classes to be listed in a couple of weeks, and sign up for hers early, they always sell out!

This feels awkward because it is me, but here we go. I started organizing fully supported, non-competitive, women only bike rides (Goldilocks) last year. Early this spring I started talking to US TriSports about organizing a women only triathlon under the same philosophy as Goldilocks. They agreed it was a great idea, and TriathaMom was born!

TriathaMom will take place in Herriman, Utah on Saturday, September 24th. From our site," TriathaMom is a fully supported, non-competitve, women only triathlon. Make no misteak, this isa REAL triathlon, (300 yard swim, 12 mile bike ride, and 5k run) complete with the REAL triathlon experience of chip timing, body making, and intense feeling of accomplishment. We know you have had this idea... "Can I do a triathlon?" in you head for a while now. With TriathaMom you no longer have a reason not to! You will know what to do, where to be, all questions answered with an attitude of "Can I help you?" rather than, "Get out of my way!"

If that isn't enough, we know your family wants to cheer you on throughout this experience, so we are providing a Carnival Style Cheering Section with a 'sign making station' a 'triathlon treasure hunt', foot races, popcorn, cotton candy, and everything to keep them entertained while you (and your friends) fulfill a goal that took months of training and hard work."

Well, it's after midnight, and I've just come in from our insane neighborhood party that we hosted (in fact, my husband is still cleaning up in the kitchen), and from watching a home in Daybreak burn from fireworks...so horrible! Please forgive me as I drag myself to bed. I promise to finish up the last of my vendor duties and will have our list of fall artisans no later than Tuesday. Monday, if I can convince my husband and kidlets to let me work for a bit on a holiday.

Dearest Oh Sweet Sadie! Friends,

I just wanted to tell you how we have enjoyed the last few days! Maybe it is because it has been so long since our last show, but this Oh Sweet Sadie! is the most fun yet. We have a bunch of new vendors that have really cool/beautiful/amazing/useful things, and it is always great to stock up on the favorites that seem to have become a staple at Oh Sweet Sadie!

We love what the Academy brings to the Show. I had a great time last night meeting my little doll makers. We were all moms, some were teachers, we even had a food scientist! It was fun to talk and laugh and craft and 10 little dollies got a new home last night.

Fun classes tonight! THE Sweet Tooth Fairy will be on hand from 7:00-8:30 pm and again from 8:30-10:00 pm to teach everyone her favorite holiday treats and tricks. Marie of Make and Takes will be teaching her hand stitched cards that were even featured in Woman's Day magazine. Nadine and Shelby from Material Girls taught their Embellished Clothing class last night (I saw some cute stuff leave that table!) and will be back for a repeat tonight as well. You can still sign up! If you register with a friend you both get $5.00 off and the code 'iloveoss' will get you an additional 10% off your Academy purchase.

Colleen Peck of CounteFitCakes says, "I have been making real cakes for my family's weddings, birthdays, anniversaries etc. for a few years. One comment that I frequently hear is, "Don't you hate to cut into that beautiful cake?" The idea came to me that it would be fun to make, CounterFitCakes. You can display these fun cakes in your home kitchen, business, or anywhere. They never need to be cut into, (well you could cut into them but these wouldn't taste very good!), and they always make a room look inviting! Because of the glass domes that are over CounterFitCakes, dusting is alway easy. That is a plus, I'm sure you would agree.

Colleen is happy to give a lucky OSS fan a 5"x3" white gumpaste bow with swirls, green leaves, and a swiss dot pattern on the loops, valued at $30. This bow would make a beautiful addition to the top of any cake! Although this bow is edible, most people like to take them off before serving their cake and save it for the top of a future cake.

We've always loved Oléa Gough's original-art flannel board stories from Rising Moon Adventures. She takes all of our favorite stories and songs and makes them come to life! Oléa would love to give you her flannel art that you can use while singing to your children about ten penguins crowded in a bed...'Ten penguins in a bed and the little one said, "I'm crowded, roll over." So they all rolled over and one fell out. Nine penguins in the bed and the little one said...' I think they'll love it!

The Academy Giveaway!

If you haven't heard about our Academy yet... this must be your first time on our site. The Oh Sweet Sadie! Academy is new to the Show this year. It has quickly become our favorite part... We finally get to meet a bunch of you, hear your stories, all while making something wonderful! The shopping at Oh Sweet Sadie will always be fabulous, we love that OSS Artisans and Vendors are known for making the most beautiful one-of-a-kind-things and the coolest displays AND we also love showing up for a class where all the supplies are provided and awesome teacher is ready to instruct, and you go home with something you made, and the knowledge to make it again!

We were so lucky with this Academy to have so many famous bloggers & local business women offer to teach what they are good at! A holiday treat class from Megan Faulkner Brown THE Sweet Tooth Fairy, and furniture refinishing from Becca Dulgarian the queen of Blue Cricket Design, Marie from Make and Takes will teach us how to make an amazing recycled book wreath, Sara Joyner of Sew Sara will teach a class on dressing up a hoodie and whipping up some handmade ties for your holiday clothes. Lauri Cox our favorite mixed media artist will be teaching several of her latest creations. Emilie Ralph, an amazing photographer is teaching 2 different photography classes and a class in photoshop! Honestly the list is endless and exciting!

Numero Uno: Little Mossi

Jen Calfa of Little Mossi is giving away their newest size blanket, the toddler(36"x45"), in their vintage paisley print color grey/black! I asked Jen to fill us in on how she got started and she replied,

"So...about me and little mossi. My husband and I were married 9 years ago and had always planned to have a family. When we started to try for a baby about 3 years after getting married, we found we both had some fertility issues. Sooo, after thousands and thousands and THOUSANDS of dollars and 5 in vitro cycles, we were FINALLY pregnant!

When my son Massimilliano (pronounced MOSS-imilliano, like tree moss) was born, he was given a blanket made from this amazingly soft minky material by my brother and his wife. Amazingly, as a tiny newborn, this super soft blanket always helped to soothe him. I immediately went on a search for this material so I could make him more. I FINALLY found it and had my mom make my son more blankets for back ups. Soon all of my friends started wanting me to make them blankets for their babies.

Right after my son turned one I threw my best friend a baby shower and had made her one of my blankets (well, my mom made it because at this point I had never sewn anything in my life!) Everyone there LOVED the blanket and went on and on about how awesome they were and how they wanted me to make them one, or could I make one in this color, or to match that color, etc. The idea popped into my head to start a baby blanket company. I went home that night and thought and thought about it, and the name little mossi just popped into my head, after my son who was my inspiration for the blankets.

The next day I called my dear friend Lisa, who also used in vitro to have her babies and was a stay at home mom as well, and said "lets start a business making these baby blankets". One month later we had our business license, some financial backing from our husbands companies, and I had bought a sewing machine! Now, 8 months later and after a few sewing lessens from my mom, little mossi blankets are in a dozen or so stores and selling like crazy at boutiques! We have just gotten started...who knows where this road will take us! And my little Mossi who just turned 2 is never without his best friend "blank" as he calls it!"

Numero Dos: Uppity Chic

Susan Dixon and Diana Jones started Uppity Chic recently. They are both stay at home mom’s. Diana has two girls and Susan has 3 kids, two boys and a girl. They both love fashion and are inspired by things around them. They love to create and design beautiful things and they hope that women will love their fashionable scarves as much as they do. A great unique gift idea. (I would also like the model's eyes please.) They are giving away one of their beautiful scarves to a lucky winner.

Our giveaway today is this beautiful necklace from r house couture. I love this necklace, and I love this saying. Two summers ago Chad and I had the opportunity to be a 'Ma' and 'Pa' on an LDS Pioneer Trek reenactment. It was an amazing time where we made dear friends, learned a lot about ourselves and our relationship with God, but mostly we learned that, we can do hard things. the r house couture is a group of three dear friends. we were brought together through our passion for adoption.

lindsey redfern is a wife, mommy and adoption blogger at www.therhouse.blogspot.com where she writes as mrs. r. a wild-spirited idea thrower-outer, mrs. r dreamed of creating a shop especially for those touched by adoption. she brought the dream to her friends kim orlandini and leisha kelsey during a late night craft get-together and it snowballed from there. lindsey is hilarious, quirky and enjoys french fries more than she should. she is an avid writer and loves to create messy art. she has a soft spot for her blog readers--the greatest group of internet friends a girl could ask for.

Mary and Priscilla, owners of Amish Country, were raised near several Amish communities in northern New York and gained an appreciation for the lifestyle and artistry of the people. The recently opened a store, Amish Country, on 8721 South State Street, Sandy, Utah (right next to Quilts Etc.)

There are a couple things I love about the products they sell. First, they are beautiful wood pieces, crafted by hand, without the use of electricity or other modern conveniences. (seriously.) Sisters, Heather VanDam and Jen Wakeland, have a very close relationship, but have a lot of miles separating them. They decided to close the gap and start a business that would allow them to talk to each other every day.... so SquackDoodle was born! They are about to celebrate their first birthday and loving every stressed out minute of it!

They create up-cycled, recycled, and 'from scratch' items all by hand. The Creative Connection: Our Report

If you missed this post, Heidi and I were invited to teach/participate in the most amazing event... The Creative Connection. It was incredible! beautiful! inspiring! Everyone who knows me know I am a HUGE fan of over the top. This event was just that. and more. I am in every picture, it seems, because Heidi was behind the camera. Lucky for you guys, I am by far the more beautiful/slim/photogenic of the two of us. ;)

My dearest most devoted friend, Amanda, and I spent roughly 38 hours in a giant van driving across the country to attend this event (our travel log) and get back home. Heidi met us there, lucky duck. The days were filled with creative classes, panels, lunches, parties, and the handmade market. I wish I had pictures of every little detail, because there were so many, but hopefully this will give you enough of a taste.

It has been a big summer for Oh Sweet Sadie! We have two announcements that you won't want to miss...

Our first bit of news is that Heidi and I have been asked to participate in The Creative Connection! Jo Packham, the creator and editor-in-chief, of Where Women Create, and co-organizer of this event asked if Heidi and I would be willing to travel to Minneapolis, Minnesota this September and teach a class at her event. Umm, I guess so. (SCREAM!) You can check this event out for yourself, but it is SPONSORED by Etsy. And here are just a few of the AMAZING women that will participating in this event, Ree Drummond (aka. The Pioneer Woman), Amy Butler, MaryJane Butters, Heather Bailey, Lisa Leonard, Serena Thompson (The Farm Chicks), just to name a few. Can you imagine? We are so excited we have had trouble sleeping at night. You can see us on The Creative Connection website under Teachers. Do you want to come too? There will be amazing classes, fabulous panels and panelists, and a huge handmade market! It's all being held at the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis, September 16th-18th. Check out registration here!

Our second piece of news isn't nearly as fun for us to announce, but it is true...Oh Sweet Sadie! is for sale. It makes me sad just to type that. Heidi recently told our artisans, "After dozens of hours of thought, prayer, discussion, and tears, and after almost 6 years of loving and giving my all to Oh Sweet Sadie!, I have decided that it is time for me to step down from a practically perfect partnership. There have been so many amazing benefits, but for me right now, I know that my 5 littles need me more than I need those benefits."

Even though I am also sad to let Oh Sweet Sadie! go, I cannot imagine doing it without Heidi...it really has been the perfect partnership. So, although we thought we'd be running Oh Sweet Sadie! for decades to come, we are now looking for the perfect new owner(s) for an awesome business. The Show and Academy have grown into a huge event with plans in the works for further growth. Even though this isn't the right time for us, we know this business will be a blessing to someone who has been praying and looking for the opportunity of owning a successful and rewarding business.

A single ownership could certainly work, but Heidi and I found it to be even better working together (fun fact...did you know that we weren't friends first? We actually met through Oh Sweet Sadie! and became friends from being partners. Cool, huh?) This would be a fun side business for a husband/wife team, sisters, two or three friends, or associates who work well together. It will just take a good mix of creative, business minded, computer savvy, fun people. Oh, and some sort of design experience will be a huge plus too. If you, or someone you know and love, is seriously interested in more information about buying Oh Sweet Sadie! Camping in the Rain

Earlier this summer we made plans to go camping with some friends. Turned out the weather that weekend was not going to cooperate, and not wanting to disappoint already excited kids, we looked for alternate plans. I had seen this hotel from the freeway, and the waterslide coming out of the back of it looked like a potentially fun time. We decided to go for it.

The 'waterpark' is shared by 2 hotels, a Holiday Inn Express and Staybridge Suites. We stayed on the Staybridge Suites side, in a 2 bedroom suite. It was $200 a night, and worth it. The suite slept 8 in beds (and remaining children on the floor. :)), full kitchen, yummy breakfast, and the hotel has a sweet theater room the husbands loved watching the World Cup in. Entry in to the 'waterpark' was included.

I use the term 'waterpark' loosely here. Please do not expect anything more then what your local rec center has to offer. It was not amazing or incredible, but the kids LOVED it. You can check out the pics below.

Summer is about vacations, camping, sleepovers, etc. This week I am giving away a Vacation Packing List to make planning and packing for your trip a little easier. I like to do the laundry, dump it all on my floor, pack from the pile, and then put the rest away. (alright, sometimes I put the rest away.)

New iPhone For Me = Free Apps For You

I got an iPhone for Christmas. Which was a really good thing, because I had lost my phone (I seem to do this frequently), and I really needed a replacement. The problem though, was that I knew a new model was on its way, and I didn't want to get the "old" one and then wish I had waited for the new model to come out. Luckily, I'm a semi-patient woman (as were my family and friends who could never get ahold of me during this period), and tomorrow I will finally have a new phone in my possession. Merry Christmas, Heidi!

As nice as it will be to have a fancy phone, I admit that sometimes it's just nice to be phone-less. Are you a phone/internet/app junkie, or do you enjoy being phone-free on occasion? Bedtime Stories

I have said it before, I love books. I love to read to my kids at bedtime. I read the classics from my childhood, and new books I have discovered. I remember my mother sitting in the hallway, where we could all hear her, reading to us until she started to fall asleep. After she went to bed, I would sneak the book into my room and read until I got 'caught'.

Here are a some of my favorites that are perfect for summer reading. (My kids are ages 4, 6, 7, & 9)

Just like Summer of the Monkeys, I am a wreck by the end. Beautiful message.

Hilarious. Each chapter stands alone making for an easy bedtime story.

Today marks the longest day of the year as well as the first full week that my kidlets are out of school. Hooray! I know that lots of people prefer a free and open summer schedule, but I think we'd get a lot of "nothing" done if we didn't have somewhere to go, so we're packed with lessons, sports, and fun.

Don't forget to take lots of pictures of your family this summer. It has really hit me this year that the older I get, the faster time seems to go by and the faster the kids grow. Soon, all we'll have is memories and photos, so take lots! And not just the big events, but the every day things and little family traditions...jumping on the trampoline, the weekly Saturday walk to the neighborhood bagel shop, painting nails, shooting hoops, shaved ice outings, reading, or any part of your regular or favorite routines. They are the things you'll want physical reminders of.

Cycling and Hula Hoops (the NEW biathlon!)

Post Edit: I rode 100 miles in the MS 150 on Saturday. It was so much fun... the weather was perfect, the route was beautiful, my team was awesome (my husband and 2 good friends), we raised a ton of mula for the fight against MS... all in all a wonderful day. Thanks so much to everyone who contibuted!

I am a total procrastinator. I have a firm belief in 'why do today what you can put off until tomorrow?' It usually bites me in the butt and this is one of those times. If you don't know my history in cycling (and you care...) you can read it here. I am signed up to ride my first century (100 miles) in the MS 150 in 11 days. ELEVEN DAYS. I think I am ready physically, almost. I have been riding 30ish miles a day for the past week, and I am feeling sort of strong... mostly nervous, but Chad is going to do it with me, so I am sure it will be fine. I hope it will be fine. A friend just told me riding a century is like getting punched in the face, no one can ever REALLY be ready for it. Oh goody.

I have one problem. In order to ride in the MS 150 you have to raise a minimum of $250.00 for Multiple Sclerosis. I have not done any fundraising... yet :) (I still have 11 days!). So this is my little plea via my public blog for donations. Sorry about that, I think I am pretty lame too. BUT it is a worthy cause. This year I started making homemade hula hoops. These hula hoops are great for a few reasons,
1. They are virtually indestructible- especially compared to a hula hoop you buy at Walmart, that might last for the afternoon, you will have this hula hoop for months and months.
2. They are heavy. Again, compared to the cheap ones. These have substantial weight which makes hula hooping much easier.
3. You can have them in any size. Little ones for little kids (or big kid arms) and big ones for grown-ups. I didn't think I could hula hoop before I made one my size, and now I can beat any kid on the street!

Fishing in the Toilet

Today I was desperately trying to get a start on some much needed home organizing so that I can enjoy the summer without having "home stuff" weighing on me, you know what I mean? So while I was busy working away, my kids of course were busy causing work. Lucy just started walking last week and I don't know what it is about walking (does being able to see 15 inches higher really make that big of a difference?), but in our family at least, it seems to be the beginning of more disasters. As I carried bins of winter baby clothes out of her room, I could hear the "swish, swish, swish" of only one thing...toilet water. I hurried in to give her a little "No, no, Lucy" just as I saw it...number two swimming around her chubby hands. Why, oh why, don't children want to flush? Well, one in particular at our house never seems to, but at least there was toilet paper in there this time. That's always a good sign of at least attempted good hygiene, right? So I whisk her up to the sink to give her a good washing.

As I walk out of the bathroom with a sweeter smelling baby, my almost 3-year-old, Asher, trots up to me with a hanger down the back of his shirt (some sort of bow and arrow or gun or something), covered from head to toe in orange marker scribbles. He had of course just had a bath, so in the interest of time and my sanity, back to the sink we went. If we carry on this way, Bath and Body Works will make a killing off of me with their antibacterial foaming soap (except that I can never shop there with kids because their walls are plastered with larger than life naked women, but that's another question for you all for another time.).

Happy Memorial Day everyone! (Is that what you say on Memorial Day?) I do have a contest... but first an amusing anecdote/star sighting.

This morning we took the kids and went for a bike ride on the Jordan River Parkway. We passed a picnic pavilion that had a super-fit, hot guy in it doing push ups. With his feet up on the picnic table bench. FAST. Leaning to one side and then the other, switching legs... very impressive. I thought, "Is that guy a Navy Seal or something?" Chad caught me watching and teased me. We continued on our ride. Later, he came running past the park (shirt off- very Jacob-esque) and my husband recognized him first... "That is Apolo Ohno!" He forgave me for ogling earlier. I think. I hope he doesn't read this post.

I have been crocheting the 'summer version' of the crocheted flower headwrap. I sold out at our spring show, but have been hard at work while catching up on months of television I have missed. Event Recap:
Heidi and I had a ton of fun at the Casual Blogger Conference! The classes have inspired a lot of talk about what this blogsite is and what we want it to be. The best part was meeting so many delightfully cool women! Just a little name dropping... Jo Packham (the queen and rockstar of our industry) and her delightful assistant Paige Hill (so much more about that chance encounter to be announced later...), and we had the pleasure to chum around a bit with Teresa Collins. It was fun to attend classes and workshops led by so many amazing women. It was an honor to hear C Jane speak, and participate in her group sing-a-long. All in all it was a great way to spend a weekend.

I have loved this poster and saying for quite sometime... but it has become my motto for the last several weeks. Having our Spring Show (yay!) and Goldilocks (yipee!) a week apart has almost been the undoing of me... well at least the undoing of my husband. :)

"During the spring of 1939 and the war with Germany almost inevitable, the British Government’s Ministry of Information commissioned a number of propaganda posters to be displayed throughout the country upon the outbreak of war. The plan for the posters was to relay a message from King George VI to his people that all capable measures to defend the Country were being taken.

Using the crown of King George VI as the only graphic element it simply read, ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’. Although some of the posters did make it onto walls (one of which can be seen above), the poster was never officially issued and so remained almost unseen by the general public. That is until a copy turned up over 50 years later within a pile of dusty old books bought from an auction.

Sadly, we do not have any record of who originally came up with the slogan. However, the reproduction is a tribute to that unknown person who created it. People across the world are still finding reassurance in its wonderful and handsome design with the very special attitude of mind that it managed to convey."

The poster began to catch on in the blog world when sfgirlbybay blogged about her find at a flea market in 2006, but really picked up steam last year when it was featured in Domino Magazine. (and I know you have all seen it on Nie's site.)

WHAT a weekend! This is the week! This Thursday, Opening Night Party! Friday & Saturday the show opens at 9:00 am. We still have some spots available in our Academy, and we wanted to give one away to one of you!

Sorry the contest is late... I have never met Lindsey, mrs. r, but I got lost for a solid hour in her blog tonight. Start poking around with care, you may be there for a while. Infertility and adoption is something I personally know nothing about. I have dear friends and family members whom I have watched struggle, I have felt guilty for my 'fertility' and wanted so desperately to be able to fix it for them. I have wondered at the unfairness of it all and tried to be an listening ear and a soft shoulder.

I just found out yesterday a good friend, neighbor, and college roommate, after a 10 year battle finally became a mother last Wednesday when they were chosen to adopt a beautiful baby boy. I cried when I heard the news. They are a most deserving couple of this enormous blessing.

when mr. r and i were struggling with infertility, one of my students, without knowing anything of our situation, randomly brought me a necklace stamped with hope. although it was 5 years ago, i still wear it everyday as a reminder.

Opening Night Party!

Part of the OSS Fashion Show will be put on by our friends at Body Magic every hour on the hour. The Body Magic is designed to reshape and reform your lower body. It allows you to look good, while you literally redistribute your problem areas, to more desirable areas of your body (I think that means my butt will move to my chest. :)). These aren't Spanx, Body Magic is a medical grade body reshaping garments that instantly make women and men look 2-3 sizes smaller (I am assured it isn't painful), and actually lose weight while wearing them.

They will (very tastefully) be showing before and after, and all the different products they carry.

The Academy for Spring is bigger and better- Friday Night & Saturday Morning, TEN classes to choose from, all supplies and delicious meals included. Classes include: cake decorating from The Sweet Tooth Fairy, all kinds of handmade toys, fan fold flowers & banners, tissue poms & paper bag flowers, an encore of Heidi's super popular fabric blooms class, candy making, jewelry, and oh so much more! Space is limited, and the last Academy filled up fast (really it did)- please register early to get the classes you want.

I just rediscovered The Velveteen Rabbit on our bookshelf. The kids were transfixed from the very beginning. (Of course, I really am quite amazing at voices...) My oldest wanted to know what the moral of the story was. I'm at a loss. No real moral, just a jumping off point for the Toy Story movies. The moral of this post is, if you don't own the story, get it.

We have bunches of new artisans and vendors to introduce you to, and beloved artisans and vendors to brag about. Lots and lots of cool stuff to giveaway. Let the games begin this Monday, April 5th. In the meantime, I hope your chocolate bunny's ears don't break off.

I know how to do some stuff. I am sort of a self-taught-in-everything-type-of-a-freak. If you didn't know... I do all the graphic design for Oh Sweet Sadie, my family, my friends, my friends' families, neighbors, strangers, any and all. I create birth announcements, wedding invitations, posters, logos, and everything in between. I work in Microsoft Publisher, and I am going to share my knowledge and years of experience with this program- with you!

Learning to use Microsoft Publisher will empower you with the ability to make your own invitations, announcements, flyers, posters, digital scrapbook, blog headers, and everything else. If you normally work in Microsoft Word, this will look and feel familiar. Publisher is a great alternative to other super expensive design software that is out there. Download the 60 day free trial and register for the class. Bring your laptop- heck, I don't care if you want to haul in your desktop- to get the most out of the class. The classes will be in my good friend's theater room, where my screen can be projected and you can follow along on your own computer. I am capping the registration at 12 people, so you will get the attention you deserve. You will leave the class with a skill that will serve you in more ways then you can imagine.

Goldilocks: Women Only Bike Ride

Did you read this post last September about me and cycling? If you didn't, take a minute to check it out.

As mentioned previously, last year I fell in love with cycling (that is what we cyclists call riding a bike :) ) and I also sit on a committee called Healthy Herriman. Which is how I became lucky enough to suggest, then beg, that we host a womens only bike ride. Rides for women are so much better- the food is better, the centerpieces are better, the logo's are better (thank you Sarah Jane Studios!) the T-shirts are super cool- and made to fit women. Wait! That saying looks familiar....

There are routes for all abilities at Goldilocks- 15, 30 and 60 miles. Check out our blog to meet some women training for the first time to ride. We have a mom training to ride the 15 miles on her cruiser with her 11 year old daughter. And that woman training for the 30 miles- I think I know her from somewhere. (I even talked my stylin' business partner into giving the bike a chance!) And a 'kick A' woman who is totally fired up and has her sights set on the 60 miles.

Rides like this are the most fun when you prepare and participate with friends and family. Set a goal to do a distance that will be a challenge then train and get ready. It will be so satisfying to say “I did it!” at the finish line. It doesn't matter what you ride, (although go talk to my friend Brad if you need advice) no one will judge you on your cruiser, or your 20 year old road bike.

So- if you have never ridden before, this is a friendly, fun place to start. If you are a seasoned rider, this is a great training ride before all the centuries and triathlons you have planned this summer.
